Yahoo! gives up quest for search dominance

"We don't think it's reasonable to assume we're going to gain a lot of share from Google," Chief Financial Officer Susan Decker said in an interview. "It's not our goal to be No. 1 in Internet search. We would be very happy to maintain our market share."

Yahoo reaffirms commitment to search

Yahoo is still very much committed to search, the company said in response to a media report claiming that the company had conceded the search battle to Google.

After reading the first article I was pretty upset at Yahoo for deciding that they would just try to maintain market share. The strategy of maintaing is a guaranteed way to lose market share in my opinion. I'm glad they said that they were committed to search.
